Having launched his writing career with multi-award-winning Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan has continued to produce multiple gritty, realistic TV series which have developed a cult following – and you can find them all in one place: on M-Net.

Season 2 of 1923 premieres on M-Net on 15 May at 21:00, with a cruel winter bringing new challenges to Dutton Ranch. Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton) still has his eyes on the ranch, with designs on turning Montana into a playground for the elite. Jacob (Harrison Ford) and Cara (Helen Mirren) must buckle down and wait for Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) to arrive and help them repel the latest attack. Meanwhile, Spencer’s new bride Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer) sets off on her own harrowing trans-Atlantic journey to find him and reclaim their love.

Coming to M-Net from 9 June at 21:00 for 10 episodes is Sheridan’s Landman, set within the world of oilfields in West Texas where roughnecks and wildcat billionaires are fuelling a boom so big it’s reshaping the climate, the economy, and the geopolitics of the region.

The series is written by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, inspired by the podcast Boomtown which Wallace hosted and based on his own experience working in the modern-day, fortune-seeking world of oil rigs. The all-star cast is led by Billy Bob Thornton as abrasive lead Tommy Norris, with Demi Moore as his wife Cami; Jon Hamm as M-Tex oil company owner Monty Miller, and Ali Larter as Tommy’s ex-wife Angela.

Thornton told Collider that Sheridan approached him by saying “'I'm writing a show for you. It's called Landman.' He told me what it was about and I said, 'Wow that's interesting, we've not seen that world,'" Thornton said. "I think that was one of the greatest things about being able to play this part that sometimes I'm funny because that's the way people are," he said. Larter praised Sheridan's writing in an interview with Nerd Reactor, saying that the showrunner encapsulates the totality of his characters. "He writes you in the darkness of the night when you're in bed when you have your fears and your anxieties," she said.

Currently on air on M-Net on Mondays at 20:00, is season 2 of Lioness, which is hurtling towards its action-packed finale on 12 May. Zoë Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly, and Dave Annable return for the second season, in which the fight continues with Joe (Saldaña) now forced to continue to fight the first season’s fires, while bargaining with Kaitlyn (Kidman) and Byron (Kelly) about sending in a new operative she isn’t sure she can yet trust.

When a US Congresswoman is abducted on US soil, Secretary of State Mullins (Freeman) activates the Lioness for assistance. Kaitlyn also comes under fire when someone breaks into her home – with fatal consequences. With pressure mounting from all sides, Joe is forced to confront the profound personal sacrifices she has made as the leader of the Lioness program.

If that’s not enough of a Sheri-dose for viewers, the first two seasons of Tulsa King are available on DStv CatchUp. Let’s avoid spoilers for those who have yet to dip their toe into the royal waters. In season 1, Dwight "The General" Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) is a Mafia capo who, having just completed a 25-year prison sentence, is sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma by his boss to establish an operation there.

He sets about building a network by means friendly, foul, and downright threatening – and makes enemies of local outlaw biker gang The Black Macadams in the process. The series also stars Andrea Savage, Martin Starr, Jay Will, Mac Casella, and Dana Delaney – and third and fourth seasons, as well as a spin-off, are in the works.

Catch season 2 of 1923 from 15 May at 21:00; the premiere of Landman on 9 June at 21:00, and on-the-go second season of Lioness on Mondays at 20:00 – all on M-Net via DStv Channel 101 or DStv Stream, with Tulsa King on DStv CatchUp and Stream, right now.
