In a just a few days’ we’ll find out who wins the second season of My Kitchen Rules SA. As we wrap up eighteen weeks of food and drama, we decided to look back at our favourite moments of the season.

Chris and Ash’s Instant Restaurant

There was hardly a dry eye in the house when Manenberg cousins Chris and Ash hosted their IR in the Beulah Centre. Their food may not have carried them to HQ, but their heart kept them in ours.

Road Tripping

The top seven teams were sent to all corners of South Africa while viewers at home armchair-travelled along. From mussels in Paternoster to tripe in Bulungula, it celebrated local destinations and the taste of home.

Food as Art

Battling the elements and each other, tension was high in this demanding challenge. Taking the teams out of the relative comfort of HQ and into Nirox Sculpture Park, the top five were tasked with creating art-inspired dishes with a People’s Choice award and an elimination at stake.

Wising Up

Waste not, want not! The water- and waste-wise challenge attuned contestants and viewers alike to cooking consciously. With limited water and penalties for food wastage, the episode raised awareness of how we cook can impact the planet.

Judges David Higgs and J'Something also had tips to share.

Getting Engaged

Our hearts soared when Pashi proposed to Kim in the second round of semi-finals, right after finding out they’d made it to the finals.

Watch the heartwarming moment again.

All the Food

There was plenty of drama, but we’re here for the food and this season’s teams impressed! Home cooks kept it local with lekker dishes like bunny chow and inyama yezimbambo, while sending us abroad with chawanmushi and aguadito. There was also something spicy, something sweet, and even something fishy.

What were David and J's highlights? Watch what they had to say.
