M-Net shows and films picked up a combined 130 Emmy nominations for the 77th Emmy Awards – and viewers can catch some of the most-nominated titles, collated in an Emmy-themed row on DStv Stream, right now.
The 130 nominations make the channel the third most-nominated network or streamer in the world after HBO Max (142) and The Walt Disney Company (137) – though the latter’s nominations are notably spread across 13 different platforms. The nominees were announced on 15 July by actors Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows) and Brenda Song (The Last Showgirl) at the Television Academy's Wolf Theatre in North Hollywood, Los Angeles – the result of the largest voting member turnout in the history of the Emmys.
Colin Farrell’s The Penguin leads the M-Net pack with 24 nominations – including a first-ever performance nomination for its star, alongside his producing nomination.
Season three of The White Lotus was just behind with 23 nominations, followed by fellow double-digit nominees The Last of Us (16); Hacks (14), and The Pitt (13 – coming to M-Net in August).
House of the Dragon and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver both received six nods and Dune: Prophecy and Survivor, four apiece. Evergreen American Idol received three nominations and there were two each for The Americas; Chimp Crazy; 1923; Poker Face, and The Rookie. Based on a True Story; Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy; The Day of the Jackal; Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage; Lioness; Matlock, and Tulsa King round out the list with one nomination each. The nominations are spread across individual cast and crew members, production teams, and the shows’ categories.
The 77th Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on M-Net (DStv channel 101) at 02:00 CAT on Monday 15 September, followed by a recorded broadcast in prime time at 21:00 CAT on the same day – as well as being streamed on DStv Stream and available on DStv Catch Up for anytime viewing. The event takes place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles and will be hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze, himself nominated in the Outstanding Variety Special (pre-recorded) for his special Your Friend, Nate Bargatze.
