Matlock is back, but there’s a twist. The title character is now a woman, played by Oscar-winning actor Kathy Bates. Her character’s name is actually Madeline Kingston, but when she comes out of retirement to join a law firm to investigate her daughter’s death, she does so using a cover story and an alias: Madeline Matlock – inspired by the old TV show, of course!

Joining her is a cast of actors playing her colleagues at the law firm, Jacobson Moore. Let’s take a look at the cast before we officially meet them in Matlock.

Kathy Bates is Matlock
From her award-winning turn in Misery to her unforgettable roles in Fried Green Tomatoes and Titanic, Kathy Bates is a movie star talent to be reckoned with. She’s no stranger to television either, having appeared on shows like Six Feet Under, The Office, and The Big Bang Theory; but probably her most memorable foray into television has been the various characters she’s played on American Horror Story. Now she’s back on television taking on the rebooted role of the legendary Matlock.

Skye P Marshall is Olympia
If you don’t recognise Skye P Marshall’s name, it’s probably because she was busy serving in the US Air Force before turning to acting fairly recently. Since pursuing a screen career, she has racked up some admirable titles on her CV, including Shameless, Black Lightning, and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. In Matlock, she takes on the role of Olympia Lawrence, Madeline’s boss. 

Jason Ritter is Julian
You’ll definitely recognise his last name, because he’s the son of sitcom star John Ritter. His son Jason has been acting since a young age in both film and television, but is probably best known for the latter, having appeared in shows like Joan of Arcadia and Parenthood. In Matlock, he plays Julian, a senior partner at the law firm where Madeline starts working.

Leah Lewis is Sarah 
This young actor already has several films and series under her belt, but is perhaps best known for her role as George Fan in Nancy Drew and her star turn in The Half of It. In Matlock, she plays a young associate at Jacobson Moore.

David Del Rio is Billy
In addition to acting, Del Rio stays busy as a writer, producer, and director. His directing features include the horror films Road Head and Sick for Toys. As an actor he has nabbed roles in the shows Maggie and The Baker and the Beauty. Like Lewis, he plays a young associate in Matlock.
