Communication brings us together and makes it easy for us to connect. The conversations you have with your significant other play an important role in determining how happy, fun and strong your relationship will be.

Social media is notorious for reducing the amount of time we spend communicating in our real life relationships. We spend a large amount of time fostering online relationships and on average, it's been stated that we spend two or more hours a day on social media.

So how do we build chemistry and love in this digital age? You and your significant other just need to be intentional about how you use the tools to your advantage.

The first thing that comes to mind are the cute emoticons they keep updating for us. Letting your partner know you have "😍" for them or sending them a "💌" when they're having a rough day can show them that you're thinking of them.

Then there's the immediacy of it. You don't have to wait until after hours to catch up. Although your intimate relationship should not be built, negotiated or maintained through social media it has enabled communication to be more accessible and relationships to be established and sustained from a physical distance. You can use creative ways to stay in touch, such as exchanging pictures and video clips or funny GIF's and memes. Just remember to keep it clean!

⛔️ Remember that whatever you put on to digital can be found by others.

It would not be wise to look for validation or reassurance from social media. If you try and find refuge in the world wide web, your chances of losing yourself are very high. It can be very easy to get a false sense of security on social media as there are a lot of people you’ll feel you have similarities with. We all know there are a lot of people who say things on social media that they might not really believe or say in real life! So don't go believing everything you read out there on social media.

In the end, when used with wisdom and caution, social media can be effective tools for strengthening relationships, building up other people, and creating a healthy sense of fun and closeness  between couples. Digital Happiness should be seen as the icing on the cake. It's a great place to have some fun and enhance the Real Happiness you feel in your offline, face-to-face relationships.
